In one word, said Conservative Party leader Trevor Bolin, we say YES!
"The call by the BC Taxpayers Federation for lower taxes, less waste and more accountable government has always been a commitment of BC’s Conservatives”, said Bolin. “That will not change.”
Today, the Canadian Taxpayers Federation asked all political parties to commit to their Taxpayer Top Five.
“In one word”, said Conservative Party leader Trevor Bolin, “We say YES!”
The BC Director of the Taxpayers federation, Kris Sims, has stated that her organization constantly gets calls from concerned citizens from Victoria to Fort St. John who are worried about wasteful spending at their local city halls.
“As a city councillor myself for over a dozen years, and now the leader of BC’s Conservatives, I am well aware of ensuring the wise use of the financial resources entrusted to us”, said Bolin.
“Which is why the Top 5 of the BCTF reads like the policies straight out of the Conservative Platform”, he continued.
Open ICBC to full competition:
In 2017 the Conservative Party of BC adopted its “Scrap the ICBC” monopoly. This was reaffirmed in 2019 when it became a part of our Made-In-BC 5-point plan
Cancel the New Employer Health Tax:
We have always agreed British Columbians should not be paying MSP, but the Employer Health Tax just shifted the burden from British Columbians not paying it up front, to paying it on the back end of business. We would scrap the tax and ensure it is paid from revenues created
No New Taxes including No Mobility Pricing:
We pledge we will not propose any news taxes, nor vote in favour of any which are proposed by other party’s in the legislature
Scrap BC’s Carbon Tax:
We have been the only political party in BC which has been opposed to the Carbon Tax from day one. This tax which was introduced by the BC Liberals, and increased by the NDP, needs to be scrapped
Strengthen the office of the Municipal Auditor General:
We would strengthen the role and authority of the municipal auditor general and work with communities to ensure families are protected all across B.C.
“Again, the call by the BC Taxpayers Federation for lower taxes, less waste and more accountable government has always been a commitment of BC’s Conservatives”, said Bolin. “That will not change.”
“BC’s Conservatives are the only party that will continue to provide the people of British Columbia with a common-sense approach to create change for the many, rather than the voices of a select few as has been the case with both Liberal and NDP governments”, Bolin concluded.
