A message, from the leader of BC’s Conservatives, on World Mental Health Day

A message, from the leader of BC’s Conservatives, on World Mental Health Day

Today as I turn one year older, October 10th means more to me than my birthday.

Today is World Mental Health Day, and today is about reflecting on those that we have lost due to Mental Health and Addictions, and those struggling with it currently.

We must ensure they remember they are not alone and we are not alone in the fight against the Stigma of Mental Health.

Remember, if you are in an emergency, please call 9-1-1.

Here are just a few resources available to those in need, and for family members:

The HealthLink BC Directory provides listings for health services provided by the provincial government, provincial health authorities, and non-profit agencies across the province. You can search for walk-in clinics, emergency rooms, hospitals, mental health programs, home care programs, pharmacy services, laboratory services, and more. For help searching the directory, call 8-1-1 any time of the day, any day of the week to speak with a health service navigator.

BC Mental Health & Substance Use Services (BCMHSUS), an agency of the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA), provides a range of specialized mental health and substance use services for adults across the province.

The Canadian Mental Health Association provides mental health promotion and mental illness recovery-focused programs and services for people of all ages and their families.

We're Here To Help you find quality information, learn new skills, and connect with key resources in BC. Explore strategies to help you take care of your mental health and use substances in healthier ways, find the information you need to manage mental health and substance use problems, and learn how you can support a loved one.

We also need better mental health access and drug/alcohol addiction infrastructure in order to help people in a more timely and effective manner. Thank you, Mr. Bolin.
